Senator Sylvia Garcia Files Bill to End Unfair Tax on Women

AUSTIN, TEXAS - Today, Senator Sylvia Garcia filed SB 129, a bill to end the unfair sales tax levied on feminine hygiene products such as tampons and sanitary napkins. The bill would place feminine hygiene products alongside other medical necessities in sales tax code like aspirin, antifungal cream, and medical equipment.

"Women need this products regularly as part of our health and well-being. It's simply not right for the law to fail to recognize this fact. Why should the state of Texas treat tampons as a luxury item?  It's simple. We should not."
