Harris County Precinct Two Commissioner Sylvia R. Garcia is in Washington D.C. today and Thursday to deliver a Commissioners Court resolution in support of full funding of NASA’s human space flight program.

The resolution is in response to the proposed federal budget released on February 1, 2010 calling for dismantling the Constellation program.

“Harris County is the home of the Johnson Space Center that stands to lose as many as 7,000 jobs if the Constellation program is cut,” said Garcia.  “I am pleased that my colleagues on Commissioners Court have joined me in this resolution calling for restoration of full funding that will keep America in place as the world leader in space exploration.”

Commissioner Garcia has joined a delegation from the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership (BAHEP) that is teaming with delegations from Texas, Alabama, Florida, Ohio and Maryland to meet with the Senate and House Appropriations Committee members and staff.
